Chanel Turnquest is a licensed real estate broker and civic engagement advocate who is passionate about empowering our community.
After gaining recognition as a licensed real estate sales associate at Century 21 in New York City, Chanel transitioned to Prudential in Upstate New York. She earned a BA in Public Relations and acquired public affairs experience working as a legislative aide for the New State Assembly for three years. She has also worked as a property manager for the past ten years in Syracuse, New York, most recently forming her own company Wealth Properties Management LLC.
Chanel is the Vice President of the Western New York Board of Realtist, a chapter of the National Association of Real Estate Brokers, one of the oldest minority professional trade associations. She currently serves as a board member of NATPAC 1947, a political action committee dedicated to support and endorse Congressional candidates who support “democracy in housing.” In Syracuse, New York, she serves as a trustee member for Science Academies of New York and board member on the Everson Museum Members’ Council and the economic development committee of the Onondaga County NAACP.
A believer in giving back to the community, Chanel volunteered as the youth adviser for the Syracuse/ Onondaga NAACP Youth Council for six years. Her son went on to serve as a National Board Member of the NAACP. As Political Action Co-Chair for Syracuse NAACP and a founding member of “the Onondaga Vote! Coalition,” she initiated voting registration at Centro, Syracuse’s transportation hub. Over 325 people were registered with the help of community leaders. She continues to promote civic engagement, most recently with her participation in the Census 2020.
